Water Pollution: Drinking Polluted Water Also Likely To Cause Cervical Cancer

It is no longer news that one of the leading causes of premature death, to this day, is cancer. And sadly enough, there is still no cure this threat to human health. Furthermore, while there are many environmental factors that are suspected to cause cancer, there are no absolute answer as to what actually causes cancer. However, what is certain is how  cancer develops in the body. The human body is made up of numerous amounts of cells that work every second to ensure optimum efficiency and health. When a change (external or internal) in the activities of these cells, it could damage one of the cell's DNA. This is how cancerous cells are formed and they begin to spread through the body.

Scientific research has stated that one of the best ways to avoid cancer is to limit the amount of environmental toxins that enter into the body. One important area where these pollutants enter the body that we often neglect is the water pollution. Some of the sources of environmental pollution that can pollute the water we drink are industrial wastes, metals, and chlorine by-products. For women, it is possible that a long term exposure to environmental pollutants in  drinking water can potentially lead to more gender specific problemssuch as breast or cervical cancer.

Although it is not entirely known what causes cervical cancer, the pollutants found in drinking water have been shown to have an effect on the DNA of reproducing cells. What is also know is that purified drinking water has been seen to have a cleansing effect on cancer patients due to it ability to flush many toxins out of the body. While there is still no cure for cancer, drinking lots of purified water is a good practice to protect the body against any illness including cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer starts at the lower part of the womb that opens at the top of the vagina. This cancer is very slow to progress and may take years for the cancer to be fully evident. If it is detected in the precancerous state by a pap smear, it is highly treatable. However, it can be extremely hard to detect if routine check-ups are put off, as there will be no obvious symptoms of the precancerous condition until it has fully spread.
